LIBRA’S NEW MOON URGES BALANCE, PUTTING US ON NOTICE THAT BUSINESS AS USUAL IS NO LONGER AN OPTION

While new moons always portend a push for new beginnings and growth, this particular new moon is packed with messages and energy!  Libra, the 7th sign of the zodiac with its glyph of scales symbolizes harmony, peace, love and beauty in our relationships and environment. However this new moon also comes in as a ‘super-moon’, the 4th of 6 we’ll have this year.  Super-moons happen when the moon is closest to the earth in either new or full expression, intensifying the gravitational pull on our emotions and our planet.  As a result, the energy of whatever other planets are acutely involved in the configuration of a new moon is magnified.

For this Moon, Mercury, the messenger of the gods, is sitting next to it, suggesting that we need to think about what’s out of balance— but this is only part of the story.  The Moon/Sun/Mercury are directly involved in the on-going Uranus/Pluto square.  For a few days, all three oppose Uranus in Aries, the planet of revolution, bringing an intensity to the concept of evolution.  In what ways do we need to think and act out of the box to move forward in a positive way?

Additionally, all three are squaring Pluto in Capricorn, which supports transformation in a way that is stable and sustainable.  There’s a lot of pressure for change in this complete configuration; the Moon/Sun/Mercury opposing Uranus in Aries and squaring Pluto in Capricorn produces a ‘T-Square’ of high and intense energy.  Squares are turning points and tend to represent internal process; oppositions can represent external process.

The circumstances of life in which this configuration takes place for each of us depends on the houses involved in our charts.  Never-the-less, no matter which ones they are, we’re all being called to seriously consider a course correction in our thinking and actions.  In other words, business as usual is no longer an option.

EDWARD BACH’S WALNUT REMEDY…PERFECT FOR THE FALL EQUINOX AND THE APPROACHING NEW MOON IN LIBRA

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology 4 Comments

The flower remedy Walnut is, “the Remedy for those who have decided to take a great step forward in life, to break old conventions, to leave old limits and restrictions and start on a new way,” so said Dr. Bach.

In this sense, Walnut helps us  cut the ‘ties that bind’, a phrase often quoted by the 1970’s motivational speaker, Dr. Leo Buscaglia.  Thus, it’s the perfect remedy for navigating the change of seasons as we welcome the fall equinox that took place last Friday.  I say this because there’s a lot happening astrologically around this year’s Equinox and the new moon that  involves shedding old ways (which I plan to blog on next time).  However, because Walnut is such a BIG remedy, I want to focus on it here…stay the course which is  another specific effect of this remedy.  It helps us to ‘stay the course’ and not become distracted by ‘the next shiny thing’ or others.

When I teach about the remedies, I remind people to think of them like the color spectrum;  we have our 7 primary colors, but within each color are thousands of subtle vibrational hues connected to that color…and so it is with the remedies.  When you read standard books about the Bach remedies in particular, there’s always some sort of ‘classical’ phrase or word to describe the action of each remedy.  For example, you’re likely to read that Walnut is for ‘change and transition’…which it is.   It helps us to navigate us through major changes in our lives…positive or negative. The circumstances could be marriage, divorce, new job, losing job, pregnancy, puberty, menopause…teething, surgery…the list is endless.

But Walnut is also helpful for several other states of mind and circumstances as well.  Like the ‘Walnut’ with its hard outer shell protecting the nut meat,  as a remedy it helps to ‘protect’ our solar plexus, the gravitational center of our body where we feel before we think.  It protects that delicate energy center within us from unhealthy ‘mundane’ outside influences that may be attempting to distract us from our intended life path.  On an energetic level, Walnut also helps to protect us from negative external energy that can be quite damaging particularly from those who do not have our best interests in their heart.

On a practical note, one question  I’m often asked relates to ‘nut allergies’…or ‘tree allergies’.  Not to worry…All of the Bach remedies (save Rock Water) are made from the ‘blossoms’ of the plant.  Because of the methods(sun and boiling) proscribed by Dr. Bach to produce the remedies, there’s no molecular structure in them…remember:  flower remedies are about energy and vibration…they’re about the plant’s healing  life force, Prana, Qi, energy…whichever term you are comfortable with…so no worries regarding allergies.  Although like many herbal tinctures, they’re preserved in alcohol(grape brandy), but there are ways you can still benefit  if you are alcohol sensitive.  For more information on this issue, check my website.

FIVE MONTHS LATER, PLUTO IS FINALLY GOING DIRECT GIVING US THE GREEN LIGHT TO MOVE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology Leave a comment

Pluto always seems to get a bad rap and that’s before its status as a bonafide planet was brought into question.  Over the years I’ve heard the following phrases to describe a Pluto transit through a chart: “the cosmic 2×4” or “the cosmic enema”…either way, the message reads  “if you don’t clean it (whatever ‘it’ is)  up, Pluto will do it for you; Pluto takes no prisoners.” On Friday, Pluto halted it’s retrograde motion that began back in April.  Now stationing for a bit before it moves forward, Pluto’s energy will be intense and direct, making sure we get its message.

The energy of this planet is all about truth, power and transformation…urging us to dive down into the depths of the innermost ‘knowing’ of ourselves.  It’s  an opportunity to become students in learning  the art of discernment, what is real? What is fantasy?  Where have we been deluding ourselves?   As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, when a planet shifts into retrograde motion (‘appearing’ to move backwards in the sky), we’re encouraged to go inward, to evaluate how the particular planet’s energy is playing out in our chart and in our lives…where do we need to make adjustments?  This message is particularly true of Pluto…learning the art of course correction for our greatest good, our destiny.

Currently, Pluto is in Capricorn, the sign that wants to be effective through practicality, self-sufficiency, stability.  Whichever house Pluto is currently poised in your chart will give you clues about your particular task.  Sixth house?  Could be your daily work, health, skill set; ninth house?  Might be education, your philosophy or your over-optimism that needs a reality check!

If we haven’t plugged in, Pluto will make sure we do.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) this usually comes in the form of an outward, material manifestation that reflects the significance of blowing Pluto’s message off.  While this is often tough going when we’re ‘in it’, down the road we can come to realize that the experience was a life saver.

THE LESSON OF DR. BACH’S GENTIAN DURING JUPITER’S RETROGRADE

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology 1 Comment

On August 30th Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, began its annual four-month back up motion in the heavens.   This mammoth planet known to astrologers as the King of the Gods, the planet of expansion, optimism and good fortune now bids us to contemplate a course correction.  As I mentioned in my recent posting regarding Mercury’s retrograde, when planets enter a retrograde phase,it’s a signal to us to go inside and quiet down to contemplate, re-evaluate what the energy and chart placement means to our evolutionary agenda.  This retrograde is in Taurus, so we are directed to consider earthly things such as security and priorities.  What is really important to us for our well being?  With Jupiter, where have we been over enthusiastic, over optimistic regarding these issues?

Thus, because Jupiter is all about faith and optimism, we can become easily deluded and tricked in the face of reality— if we aren’t careful.  Jupiter in our charts reflects the necessity of walking a fine line of balance between having faith in ourselves and optimism in our dreams against reality.  When we lose our balance within this framework we can be easily opened up to the shock of disappointment and discouragement.  Jupiter’s retrograde highlights which old beliefs and self-imposed benchmarks  are no longer useful,  may be dragging us down; in other words, they need to be jettisoned.  This lesson can be and  often is,  disheartening.  We are ready to throw in the towel when it feels like the wheels are coming off…but there is help on the way!

Dr. Bach’s flower remedy Gentian, is there to help us when we lose our Jupiter balance.  As one of Bach’s original ‘Twelve Healers’, the negative Gentian mood state  is all about discouragement, self-doubt and perseverance.  According to Dr. Bach the purpose of the Gentian remedy is to lead us to an:  understanding that there is no failure when you are doing your utmost, whatever the apparent result’.

This understanding helps us realize that that steady perseverance is essential to overcoming self-doubt.  A vital key to our own soul evolution is to remember that cosmic law dictates trusting the perfect timing of the universe; that the universe provides us with whatever we  need for our expansion and growth. When we find change and challenge difficult, Gentian helps us to understand the value of, and engage in, perseverance in the face of adversity and disappointment.

In case you are wondering…in my own birth chart I have Jupiter in my first house of ‘self’ and it is also my chart ruler… which is why I have Gentian in the large economy size on my desk!

BUSY END OF AUGUST-MERCURY GOES DIRECT AND NEW MOON COMES IN WITH A GRAND TRINE

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology Leave a comment

Finally, we can take a small breath as Mercury speeds up changing to direct motion…always refreshing!  So the question is; on your internal channels what did you think about, reconsider during this retrograde?  Did you map out adjustments to your plan, set a course ahead that includes these  If so, forward movement can now prove to be beneficial in the quest, whatever that might be.

On the mundane, how many heart stopping moments did you experience with communication…like hitting ‘send’ before double checking the addresses or deleting the thread of an oh, not so great, conversation about someone?….Or booting up your computer only to be faced with the ‘blue(or worse, black) screen of death’?  You can thank Mercury’s retrograde energy meant to make us stop and think!

And now we have a new moon in Virgo exact on Sunday(28th) at approximately 10:04 p.m. CST.  Leo’s full moon earlier this month was about our heart centered creativity; now Virgo is telling us to get down to brass tacks in an earthly way and get busy.  Service is Virgo’s  key goal, but like all of the signs it has its ‘shadow’ which can be hyper criticism, arrogance, over analysis, self-deprecation…take your pick.  Virgo can easily ratchet up its shadow in us if we are predisposed to any of these tendencies.  Self-deprecation seems to be a favorite that says we are ‘never enough’.  I wrote on an earlier post under “Balance” about Dr. Bach’s flower remedy Pine…check it out for Pine is a perfect remedy to help us balance out this particular shadow side of Virgo.

And there is more!  This new moon positioning itself in Virgo comes with a packed agenda.  Venus, the planet of beauty and love is even closer to the Sun now, joined by the moon…reminding us that our interpretation of self-worth and loving ourselves is very important to our evolutionary soul growth.  This new moon is also part of a earth bound Grand Trine to Jupiter(King of the Gods, planet of fortune and expansion), and Pluto(the alchemist, transformer, change).

Grand Trines are easy energy, but they can be deceptive because we can become too complacent with this ease of energy, waiting for things to happen without our input of effort.  Virgo says, “get off your comfy sofa and put some elbow grease into your plan.”  If you do, this Grand Trine energy can be a great support in letting go of outmoded beliefs and plans to be replaced by more useful ones that you may have ‘thought’ about during the recent Mercury retrograde.

In a chart there are no idle actors; the energy of every planet placement has a purpose on the stage, but it is up to us to participate in the script.
