AS MERCURY GOES DIRECT, WARRIOR MARS RETREATS-RIDE THE WAVE WITH DR. BACH’S CERATO AND HOLLY

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology Leave a comment

Astrologically speaking, 2014 is starting off with a bang, so much so that it’s hard to keep one’s bearings.  Among the more recent events, the brief but nevertheless intense square, mid January between Venus and Mars reappears again just as Mars retrogrades in Libra, March 1st on the heels of Mercury going direct in Aquarius.

As with all things in the Universe, there are multiple layers of meanings expressed through outward events such as these astrological configurations.  But in order to take full advantage of these planetary energies and their metaphorical meanings through the evolutionary lens, we need to dive deeper within ourselves.  As I’ve written in previous posts, any time a planet ‘appears’ to be moving backwards in the sky, there’s the expressed opportunity for us to go within, examine and consider where and how we need to move forward for our own growth.

EVERYONE jokes about Mercury going retrograde as it does three times a year, portending computer failures, messages being garbled or lost, the sudden appearance of foot in mouth disease along with a host of other communication malfunctions.  Some of our experiences are funny wherein we can only laugh, others not so much, like when you’re directed to the wrong gate and miss your flight! When Mercury backs up, the Universe is suggesting that we closely examine our ways of thinking, listening and expressing…it’s as if the pause button has been hit in order for us to revisit our ways of and interactions with, communication.  Where we need to switch to a different channel that supports us moving forward?  Fortunately we still have time here, as Mercury remains in retrograde mode until the end of this month when it slowly changes course and begins to move forward.

Mars, the god of war, can be a nasty guy when he shows up in his guise as ‘a trickster.’  Aggressive, even vindictive with an intensity of having to be right; that’s the moderate portrait…no need here to detail what the escalating profile looks like; we witness it daily on the news.  But what about when Mars is a teacher for us, especially when he starts moving backwards?  It’s in this mode that Mars’ agenda is to help us develop courage so that we may manifest our greatest potential on our evolutionary path.  Growth takes courage because it demands that we move out of our comfort zone, take the leap of faith, go into territories that are totally unfamiliar.  In this mode we all become Captain Kirks at the helm of the Star Ship Enterprise.  In order to navigate these arenas of communication and courage we need supportive tools and of course within easy reach are two of Dr. Bach’s famous flower remedies, Cerato and Holly.

Like all of Bach’s remedies, Cerato can re-balance temporary or situational mood states but also as with all of the remedies, Cerato has deeper applications.  Cerato is particularly paired to communication and therefore Mercury in this sense.   When Mercury behaves as a trickster, we distrust our innate wisdom, which totally defeats the purpose of the ‘pause to go within.’  As a result, we question what our intuition is trying to tell us, we ask everyone what we ‘should do’, rather than trusting our own knowingDuring Mercury’s retrograde motion where the message is really to quiet the mind and mouth, Dr. Bach’s Cerato can act as a catalyst, shifting our perspective from the external to the internal.  So if we are prone to distrusting our own Divine wisdom, Cerato’s energy will support us in our effort to embrace the wisdom that’s ours and learn to trust it.

In the broad sense, Holly is about dealing with aggression, jealousy, envy,  greed and rage.  Such emotions are very much in the spirit of Mars as a trickster driven by fear at the core.  As a remedy, Holly’s life force, prana, Qi, vibration,  softens this perception by helping us to step back where we can reinterpret the reality around us and at the same time support us with a feeling of safety.  When this happens we develop the courage to open our heart center, step out of the box and move forward in our evolution!

THAT OLD DEVIL SATURN AND DR. BACH’S GENTIAN

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology, Uncategorized, Writer's Work 2 Comments

Recently a gifted medium friend of mine gave me an unsolicited message:  “Follow Saturn.”  At first I thought this odd, as this friend’s knowledge regarding astrology is modest.  However the more I thought about it, I recalled my ‘transit’ chart reading with Steven Forrest last spring which focused heavily on Saturn transiting the 12th house of my natal chart.

For those unfamiliar with ‘astrospeak’, a brief side bar on what ‘transit’ means.  Each of the planets in our solar system has an orbit that rotates them through the twelve signs of the zodiac; some planets for example like speedy Mercury and Venus move quite quickly.  The ‘outer planets’ i.e., those furthest from the Sun take a very long time to lumber their way around the heavens.  For example, Saturn takes approximately 28 years,(give or take)Uranus takes 83.75 years, Pluto takes 248.6 years and etheric Neptune takes 163.72 years.

From an evolutionary perspective, there are no accidents in a chart.  Everyone’s chart is uniquely orchestrated for optimum Soul growth opportunities.  When a planet’s orbit pings a sensitive point in our natal chart, such as the birth position of the Sun, Moon, Ascendant (i.e., the sign on the horizon the moment of your birth), as well as other important points including houses(the circumstances of life), this is called a ‘transit’.  Transits can be very important because the psychological energies they carry come with updates, so to speak, in a personal agenda for us.  Whether or not we take advantage of these perfectly ‘timed’ events is another matter; we can respond positively or negatively, the choice is ours.

The ancients viewed Saturn (that old devil) as a malefic,  along with Mars and Pluto.  Depending on their placements in a birth chart or by transit, it was believed that these guys portended inauspicious outcomes.  Even today traditional astrologers may view a client’s chart with a wary eye when Saturn is ‘acting up.’  However, no doubt about it, Saturn’s job is to teach us lessons we need for growth and yet provide a sturdy foundation under our feet.  Thus, if we opt for the evolutionary lens, we’re better tuned in if we view Saturn’s transit with a higher perspective.

Nevertheless, our experience of Saturn can be a lonely road to travel; often we’re ready to quit, throw in the towel and second-guess our judgement.  These possibilities are particularly highlighted when Saturn by transit is in the sign of Scorpio as it is currently.  Here, Saturn will remain until until this time next year when it shifts into Sagittarius for a time before backing up for a last past through Scorpio and then moves on for good in September 2015.  So, we have our work cut out for us, each and every one.  When Saturn’s in the sign of the Scorpion, we’re challenged to look at things within our psyche and past experiences we’d rather not.  While in the end such excavations make us stronger, help us to grow by understanding how we could have behaved or done things differently, it’s not  always a particularly good time making us want to run the other way.

Dr. Bach’s Gentian is the perfect flower remedy for times when Saturn is wreaking havoc.  As one of Bach’s original ‘Twelve Healers’, the negative Gentian mood state  is all about discouragement, self-doubt and perseverance.  According to Dr. Bach the purpose of the Gentian remedy is to lead us to an:  understanding that there is no failure when you are doing your utmost, whatever the apparent result.” This understanding helps us realize that steady perseverance is essential to overcoming self-doubt.  A vital key to our own Soul evolution is to remember that cosmic law dictates trusting the perfect timing of the universe; that the universe provides us with whatever we  need for our expansion and growth. When we find change and challenge difficult, Gentian helps us to understand the value of, and engage in, perseverance in the face of adversity and disappointment.

MERCURY’S RETROGRADE IN ‘SPOOKY SCORPIO’ MEETS DR. BACH’S CERATO FLOWER REMEDY

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology, Writer's Work Leave a comment

On the heels of the powerful Full Moon in Aries last Friday, little Mercury, ‘messenger of the Gods’, ‘director of all forms of communication’, begins its final retrograde motion of 2013 today as it appears to back up in its orbit until November 10th.  On the practical level as always with a Mercury retrograde, it’s wise to make certain that  computers are continually backed up,  messages are double checked  before we hit ‘send’ or ‘delete’, details of appointments are re-checked  and that we are conscious of what’s coming out of our mouths.  When Mercury turns retrograde, it tends to play havoc with all forms of communication whether they be external or simply a mind that just will not STOP…this is Mercury’s energetic MO.

However, this time there’s a further catch.  While speedy Mercury normally moves quickly through a sign, this time it hangs around in what Steven Forrest refers to as ‘Spooky Scorpio’, the sign of those things ‘hidden’, until December 5th.  Even after it goes direct in motion, Mercury remains here, giving us more time to feel at the depths of our Soul,  where Scorpio demands we come face to face with our truths.  At first glance, it would seem that the planet which rules the mind, communication and thinking paired with the sign of depth, feeling and truth, would seem a very odd pairing.

However, when any planet shifts into ‘retrograde’ motion, the message is to contemplate; to better understand the particular part of ourselves represented by the planet’s energy and the messages of the sign its occupying.  In this case we’re mentally encouraged to consider different perspectives of the past, perhaps where our mind demanded control, running roughshod over our innate intuition.  In the silence of Scorpio’s depth during Mercury’s retrograde and post-retrograde period where it remains for a time in Scorpio, we’re offered the opportunity to step back and shift perceptions, to ‘let go’ of reactions and thought processes that no longer serve or benefit our evolution.  Such shifts can lead us then to alternative actions in the future that support our growth and ability to manifest our greatest good.

Thus, during a Mercury Retrograde as I’ve written previously, Dr. Bach’s flower remedy Cerato can be very helpful.  Like all of the remedies, Cerato can re-balance temporary or situational mood states but it’s also one of Dr. Bach’s original ‘Twelve Healers’ and therefore a Soul Type.  While one may not be a Cerato Soul per se, those who have Mercury significantly placed in their chart are particularly subject to Cerato’s shadow energy which distrusts innate wisdom.  As a result, trusting one’s own knowing is very difficult if not impossible.

During Mercury’s retrograde motion where the message for everyone is to quiet the mind and mouth, Bach’s Cerato can act as a catalyst, shifting our perspective from the external to the internal.  It can take us down to our depths where Scorpio waits for us to face our truths and acknowledge our feelings.  Such excavations are scary territory, but if we call upon Cerato, its gentle energy will support us in our efforts to go forth where we can come to ‘know’ the wisdom that is ours and to trust it.

Keys to What’s Holding You Back-Evolutionary Astrology and Dr. Bach’s Flower Remedies-

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology, Writer's Work Leave a comment

August 20th arrives with a Full Moon in Aquarius.  Ruled by the planet Uranus, individually and globally we’re being pushed to embrace innovation, individuation and collaboration…a mouthful. This said, illuminating this Aquarian moon is the Sun in heart-centered Leo, reminding us that we must not forget to be true to our Soul’s intent for us to evolve as spirit in body.

As I’ve discussed in previous posts, the science of Evolutionary Astrology is about transformation.  In the evolutionary analysis of the birth chart, we’re presented with a powerful tool that metaphorically offers a map and compass which reveals our Soul’s unique agenda and pathway for this lifetime. In addition, this process presents us with the opportunity to confront psychological karmic energy from a distant past that haunts us at an unconscious level; in essence this elusive energy holds us back.  Certainly the prospect of stepping up to this challenge is a daunting one that requires courage and faith to leap into the unknown in order to break the ties that bind.‘

Once we become aware of what we need to leave behind and in what ways we need to move forward on this journey of self-discovery, we can call upon several of Dr. Bach’s powerful flower remedies for support.   His remedy Walnut immediately comes to mind, for Walnut expressly helps us to cut binding ties and at the same time ‘stay the course’ toward our ‘next right step.’

Additionally, there’s another remedy for this situation in Dr. Bach’s famous ’38’—Honeysuckle.  The dynamics of Honeysuckle specifically relate to those emotional states of mind wherein the individual cannot let go of the past.  Often this memory state manifests as unrealistic longings to return to a nebulous history that’s wrapped up in fantasy or it can be recall within the present lifetime that nevertheless, is also conjured up in fantasy.  Such desires can be attached to grief and loss or simply a wanting to escape.   In either state of emotional psychology, it’s the avoidance of the present which prevents movement into the future.

So, as we enter the energy of the forthcoming Aquarian Full Moon, we have tools to help us move forward on our journey of growth…an analysis of our astrological birth chart through the evolutionary lens, Dr. Bach’s Honeysuckle, or both!

PLUTO AND BACH FLOWER REMEDIES: SHIFTING OUR PERCEPTION WITH THE HELP OF THESE UNLIKELY BEDFELLOWS

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology, Writer's Work 2 Comments

Sometimes during a reading, an astrologer will make a mildly humorous reference to an approaching (or current) Pluto ‘transit’ in the client’s chart as a way to lighten up the atmosphere.  The quip, “life happens while you were making other plans,” or, “Pluto; the cosmic 2×4,” are good examples.  Regardless, the real purpose of such energy is to get our attention and shove us out of complacency… of course, always for our ‘own good.’

Astrologically speaking, when Pluto comes calling in your life you can count on the fact that ‘change’ is in the air often accompanied by what feels like Chaos.  Even in non-astrological terms, it goes without saying that Chaos can enter our lives without the help of Plutonian energy.  Either way, we’re getting a message that change in how we are living or our perceptions, need to change in order for us to move forward in our evolution.  This is a tough assignment; human nature doesn’t like change.  Change is scary to most of us because forging into unknown territory can be like playing ‘blind man’s bluff.’

This said, a significant action of any of the Bach flower remedies is that they support and assist us in the ability to shift our perceptions.  This is particularly true of Bach’s Walnut.’  Dr. Bach spoke of our Soul holding the innate wisdom for each of us…and when we are in a disharmonious emotional state, its as if a ‘fog’ drops over this wisdom. When we’re emotionally distressed our perceptions are ‘off’; we aren’t ‘seeing’ clearly…it’s like trying to see clearly through a dirty window.  The remedies help us to ‘shift’ our perceptions, clean the window so that our vision is cleared.  When this happens, we then have the ability to interpret our external and internal landscapes more realistically.

Like everyone else, I’m experiencing the effects of the on-going Pluto/Uranus square which I’ve written about in previous postings.  While I’m emotionally aware of the impact in my life, I’m also getting the ‘point’ in a very mundane way; its as if the Universe is wanting to make sure that I ‘get it.’  Currently, we’re having a lot of repainting done in our home which has necessitated taking down all of our pictures, moving furniture.  If you’ve ever had painters take over your house you know that the atmosphere is nothing less than ‘chaotic.’  This morning as I was looking at the bare walls in my office, climbing over drop cloths draped over furniture, the light bulb suddenly went on.  Once the walls are finished, there’s nothing that says I have to arrange all of the pictures or furniture exactly as they were before the arrival of the painters.  Instead, I now have an opportunity to make changes in how these things are placed which in turn will give an entirely different feeling to each of the rooms.  Nevertheless, I am hedging my bet so that I ‘stay the course’…I’ve just pulled a bottle of Walnut out of my cabinet!
