EVOLUTIONARY ASTROLOGY, THE TEACHER-LIFE, THE TRANSFORMER

For this posting, I’ve asked Simon Bentley, Principal of the White Eagle Lodge’s School of Astrology (based in England), to be a guest.  He has kindly given permission to post his piece, ‘Life, the Transformer’, giving us a perspective on soul growth and how the sacred science of astrology can assist each of us on our journey.  Many thanks, Simon!

I wonder if we have ever stopped to think what the word [transform] actually means? Literally, the prefix ‘trans’ means ‘across’, so that ‘transformation’ comes to mean ‘moving across to another form’, and so, changing form. If we aren’t careful, we use this word very glibly, but looked at from a spiritual perspective it is a word of crucial importance, since we are constantly attempting to transform ourselves, change into a form suited to our current position on the spiritual path.

Eventually, we shall all learn to transform continuously, but until we reach such a point of evolution it tends to happen in fits and starts and is not always welcomed…Astrologers recognize that Pluto, despite the fact that astronomers ‘demoted’ it in recent years, is the planet that symbolizes this factor in our growth, and when it’s particularly strong in a horoscope one can be sure that there are significant transformational processes going on in the life.

At this time, Pluto tends to be manifesting in terms of those occurrences and changes in life that seem completely fated, over which we appear to have no control.  The ‘fits and starts’ mentioned above tend to bring to light some kind of major change, the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another, closely linked with Pluto’s action.   However, bearing in mind that every life, every incarnation of every soul, is part of the grand transformational process that eventually brings us to divinity, the significance of the word ‘transformation’ means far more in astrology than simply a reference to what Pluto may do. The whole of life is in some way transformational, and so it could be said that astrology is a science that illuminates the transformational process we call ‘life’. Astrologers are often called upon for advice when there are crises in life, turning points – moments of transformation, if you will.

Astrology can help the soul to understand the process and therefore to be less apprehensive about it and to handle it more harmoniously. Most of life’s problems, as well as often being the inevitable outworking of karmic patterns, are brought about by our tendency to resist this process: astrology, by at least attempting to explain it, helps to remove our all too natural tendency to resist.  This raises an interesting point, especially for astrologers themselves.

It has always been considered that the planet of our science is Uranus, and I would not dispute that astrology is a Uranian occupation, revealing, as it does, spiritual truth and the action of the divine will in human life. However, if astrology is also an assistant to transformation, surely it is also Plutonic? Personally I have often suspected as much, and what I have found is that while astrology is undoubtedly Uranian, Pluto is commonly very active in the horoscopes of those who become professional astrologers.

As professionals they are called upon to help others to cooperate actively with the transformational process in their lives. But there are also implications for the astrologers themselves, and the origin of their vocation. They too are undergoing transformations in their own personal lives, and what they see and experience through their clients is part of their process as well.

The use of the wonderful tool we call astrology is always, therefore, a two-way experience; if properly accomplished it’s that classic win-win situation which we all like to achieve! The client is better enabled to cope with his or her transformation; the astrologer is transformed to a degree simply by doing the job and thus learning from the client. So we could say that astrology itself can be – and hopefully is – used to hasten this process and thus speed up evolution, both individually and, through that, of the whole world.

EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT THAT FULL MOON!

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology Leave a comment

Last night’s full moon in Scorpio is the belle of the ball right now.  Her brilliance is not only lit up by the Taurus Sun but her photographs are all over the news media, Facebook, Google, NASA and endless other sources.  How stunning she is in her perigee, a point in the moon’s orbit that at unique times brings the moon closest to Earth.   She seems so close that we can almost reach out and touch her!  Aside from the breath taking visual, as always there’s meaning here through the evolutionary astrological lens.

Full moons are always about polarity highlighting particular themes that have come to a ‘full culmination’ point within our personal evolutionary process.  For a moon in Scorpio change is upon us.  We are urged to consider that which is emotionally deep within …something that’s been hidden until now needing to be looked at ‘in the light’.  It might be very old ‘stuff’ wanting to be healed from prior times in this life or memories of past lives.

The energy of the opposing Taurus Sun encourages us to take the time with ourselves for this shift.  Taurus is methodical, grounded and careful. Ruled by Venus, Taurus loves beauty and nature.  Perhaps spending time in nature in an environment that’s peaceful and nurturing is just what’s called for.

There are several of Dr. Edward Bach’s flower remedies that can support this healing.  Those readily coming to mind are Agrimony, Star of Bethlehem and Walnut Agrimony helps us to feel safe in acknowledging within ourselves and verbally to others, those things which have been hidden, so that we might receive the external support to help us through the healing.  Star of Bethlehem as I have written in other posts, is considered by those of us who are practitioners, as the umbrella remedy.  Dr. Bach in so many words referred to it as the ‘ultimate healer of all wounds’…I have never met anyone in over 20 years who cannot benefit from this beautiful and extremely powerful remedy.  As a reminder ,it’s one of the five in Bach’s ‘Rescue Remedy’ or the ‘Five Flower Formula’ from Healing Herbs Ltd.  Finally, Walnut…the classic choice for life’s transitions.  Walnut helps us to move forward to get our foot over the threshold and ‘cut the ties that bind.’

So whatever needs to come to light in your life, whatever needs to be discarded through healing so that you can move on, look to the embracing energy of this beautiful full moon in her glory and add these remedies to your ‘healing kit’.

URANUS-THE LIGHT BRINGER OF ‘LIGHTBULB MOMENTS’ FOR DR. BACH’S WATER VIOLET

Posted on by Gaye Mack in Balance, Karmic and Self-Discovery Astrology 1 Comment

As I wrote in one of my previous postings, the on-going square between Pluto and Uranus is such a big deal that I’d be revisiting these two planets from time to time, particularly to look at how the energies of these heavenly bodies can and do interact with the various energetic characteristics of Dr. Bach’s flower remedies…especially at the deepest levels of our being.  For this posting I had actually intended to write on another subject but at the last moment, suddenly changed my mind…an example of how Uranus’ energy can affect us when it’s winding up in our charts…sudden departures from normal patterns that come out of nowhere.  So to Uranus first.

Personally, I like Uranian energy…most of the time…because it can and does, bring us flashes of inspiration…light bulb moments…those ah ha!, moments.  Without looking at specific charts, it’s pretty certain that those responsible for our greatest advances in technology (which Uranus rules), either had or have strong Uranian energy in their birth charts or were undergoing a major Uranian transit when  they were suddenly inspired with ideas that depart from the norm.

When Uranian energy transits a sensitive point in our birth chart, its purpose IS to break up stagnant patterns.  Whether the intent is creative or personal life changes, it hits us like a jolt of lightning(which by the way is another thing Uranus rules), shattering us out of what might be construed as a deep sleep.  Such jolts can be uncomfortable because it’s typically intense and relentless in achieving change.  However in the larger view, a Uranus transit propels us think/act differently that’s positive for our evolution; the ease of how we navigate such a transition depends very much on how strongly we resist, which brings me to Dr. Bach’s Water Violet remedy.

Reincarnation is a core tenant of Evolutional Astrology, and thus pairs beautifully with Dr. Bach’s concept of Soul lessons and types which I wrote about in Igniting Soul Fire~ Spiritual Dimensions of the Bach Flower Remedies. The Water Violet Soul is very old in this context and therefore carries with it an enormous amount of wisdom and experience.  The karmic issue for these souls is experience, but it’s sadly won through betrayal and most assuredly, unpleasant outcomes.  With such experiences comes grief …a major hurdle to presently overcome for Water Violet because the energy of the past is entrenched in the cellular memory.

Thus  because Water Violet carries such deep grief from the past, it tends to be introverted and may appear aloof, driven by a strong reluctance to interact for fear of yet one more betrayal and yet… its karmic job IS to interact, to share its deep wisdom which will bring JOY to this soul…the virtue, according to Dr. Bach.

The power of Uranian energy is not shy as it comes upon us suddenly, deliberately pushing for change. So if Water Violet’s picture resonates with you in any way even in your personality, this remedy can be very supportive and strengthening during a Uranus transit, fostering courage to engage and receive joy in return.

July Ends with Powerful New Moon in Dramatic and Creative Leo; August begins with Mercury shifting into Retrograde Mode

WELCOME TO WRITERS MUSE!

My intent for this blog is to offer postings on a variety of subjects(as I learn to navigate the technical side of blogging!) that interest me, and I hope you as well as this site grows over time.  For now I invite you to take a peek into the arena of ‘horoscope musings’ as July ends with a powerful new moon in Leo and August begins with Mercury in retrograde!

New moons always herald in new beginnings in some fashion for each of us  both individually and for the planet as a whole.  This new moon which was  exact at 1:40 p.m. CST on the 30th,  is no exception. It signals a new cycle and level of creative drive mixed with perhaps a bit of drama which the sign of the lion is known for.

This drive is further emphasized as Venus, the planet of love and beauty cozies up to the sun/moon conjunction at 3 ° pushing us to be creative in a new way, to play, experiment and enjoy.  How do we know how creative we can be unless we jump in with no expectations?

New Moons affect all signs but those with the strong influence of Leo or the 5th house in their charts will particularly feel the message of this moon in their hearts.  And, we can plan on feeling these effects for approximately 4 days after the exact conjunction.

But of course it is never enough…Mercury, that mighty little planet, whom the ancients viewed as messenger of the Gods, zooms around its orbit faster than any other planet in the zodiac.  Mercury is all about language and transmission of information.

Ratcheting up at the end of July, on August 2nd,  this planet will shift into ‘retrograde’ motion appearing to move backwards in the heavens until August 26th.  While the point of working with the energy of a Mercury retrograde is to go inside ourselves to connect more deeply with our own inner communication, in the ‘outside’ world it can wreak havoc with all forms of communication.  Ever wonder why voice mails, emails suddenly seem to get dropped during a particular time frame, conversations get bungled or misinterpreted…or electronics that have to do with transmission seem to go on the fritz, particularly computers?  You can blame it on ‘Mercury retrograde’.  The real point however, is for us to slow down, give our central nervous systems a rest and quiet down.  A rest…now this sounds wonderful ….but.

Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo.  For those of us who have these two signs significantly appearing  in our birth charts or powerful aspects to Mercury…be prepared.  I know well of what I speak…make sure that EVERYTHING is backed up in your computer at all times….if you must sign any type of contract, make sure you read the fine print carefully…and as far as social or business appointments?  Reconfirm, reconfirm, reconfirm!

Oh and by the way…the file for my next post just vanished!
