What is my Soul’s Purpose, WHY am I here?
These are questions that seem to dogg all of us, regardless of beliefs and interests…and a question that Astrology attemps to answer but….Astrology is such a vast landscape, larger than most people would think…and this is just considering what we label as ‘western’ astrology, not considering other systems found around the world.
As we peruse the ‘astrological smorgasbord’ delights, we find the specialty of Evolutionary Astrology. When I meet someone new and they ask me what I do, often the next question is, ‘well, what is Evolutionary Astrology, exactly?’
I tell them it’s the Astrology of their Soul Purpose.
Whether or not someone is into exploring the territories of the metaphysical or esoteric landscape, deep down we all want to KNOW WHY. Why are we here–not just what is it that we’re supposed to be doing that earns money?
The core tenant of this lens rests in the philosophy that our Soul is eternal, and that in reality, we’re ‘spirit in body’ reincarnating through cycles of lifetimes. Through hard-won as well as enjoyable experiences, these support the process of our Soul to ‘evolve’ in growth for our highest purpose.
As Evolutionary astrologers, we see the Birth Chart as a vision map the Soul agreed to walk in this incarnation in tandem with a ‘karmic contract’ agreed upon prior to our incarnation with the Universe, Spirit, God–whatever term is comfortable for you.
There is, however, a caveat in this contract…it contains a piece of ‘unfinished emotional karma’ that has ‘ripened’ from a prior lifetime and that we have agreed to take another swipe at. While we can never know the exact circumstances of that prior life that has come up for review, as Evolutionary Astrologers, we can ‘see’ through the energy of the chart’s symbols and placements what unresolved emotion(s) has followed us into this life–what is it that is keeping us from our highest evolutionary purpose.
It’s important to remember that the natal chart is NOT about predestination. As humans we are all faced with questions, circumstances and possibilities but can’t predict the outcome because we have the choice of free will…AND the chart you have is one that fits the needs of your Soul and its development when you incarnated reflecting the challenges and also our innate gifts which we are often unaware of or have forgotten about because life has intervened.
The good news is that we’re now strong enough and have evolved far enough to take on this ripened emotional karma. The possibilities are endless– fear, grief, anger, lack of self-confidence, these often top the list which is long. Nevertheless, whether we choose to do this work is up to us entirely as we always have the power of free will and choice.
At the end of the day, Evolutionary Astrology is not only a vision map, but it also offers us a time strategy of self-understanding and development, a keyhole through which lends itself to our understanding of the unseen forces of the Universe and Spirit. Evolutionary Astrology won’t tell you if you’re going to win the lottery, but what will give you is the power of self-discovery and self-actualization.
